Sean Miller started off his 2014 recruiting class in style, with news of four-star point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright committing to the UA.
ESPN’s Dave Telep reported that Cartwright, a 5-foot-7 point guard from Los Angeles, committed to the UA on Sunday.
Jackson-Cartwright is ranked the 30th-best 2014 recruit by ESPN, and its 7th-best point guard.
According to ESPN, Arizona beat out UCLA and Gonzaga for his services.
T.J. McConnell, a Duquesne transfer, is set to be Arizona’s point guard for the next two years when he becomes eligible, but he’ll only have one year of eligibility left by the time Jackson-Cartwright arrives, so Jackson-Cartwright should be ready for the starting slot by the 2015 season.
His recruiting profile on ESPN.com calls him “the best point guard, at this stage, that we have seen since Baron Davis laced them up at Crossroads High School.”
Davis is a former NBA All-Star and star UCLA point guard.
Jackson-Cartwright has averages of 13.6 points, 7.9 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game for Loyola High School this season.
