A shoot for an upcoming season eight episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” at the UofA Bookstore was cancelled Monday afternoon after a crowd of students swarmed the location.
Kourtney Kardashian and partner Scott Disick were apparently scheduled to make an appearance and shoot scenes for the show, but producers decided to cancel, concluding the mass of students would seem unnatural for the reality show, bookstore staff said.
Students began arriving around 3:50 p.m., and many were staying despite the staff’s announcement of a cancelled appearance.
Heather Wilson, a film and television freshman, said she heard from a friend that Kardashian — a former UA attendee — was in Tucson. Wilson was waiting with Selma Jasarevic, a psychology freshman.
“I watch them every week,” Jasarevic said, adding that she was willing to wait hours just to see members of the show’s cast. “They’re, like, my favorite people. Whenever I go to L.A., they’re always the people I look for, and now they’re here.”
Pre-physiology freshman Janet Sananixay had been waiting outside the bookstore for more than an hour by about 5 p.m., having came straight from math class. Sananixay received a photo of Kardashian at Tucson International Airport, taken by a friend of a friend.
“We were finding this out in the middle of class, and then right when we got out of class, that’s when we came to the bookstore because we found out they were coming to the bookstore,” Sananixay said.
Sananixay’s friend and education freshman Jenna Murphy said she wasn’t entirely convinced that the shoot had been cancelled, adding that she planned on waiting.
“I’m very skeptical about it,” she said. “They said it was cancelled because she didn’t want many people around her, but we’re like, ‘You’re a Kardashian, there’s always people around you.’”
A spokesperson from the bookstore was unavailable to comment on the appearance.
