M-basketball: Arizona rolls past Robert Morris

The Arizona Wildcats routed the Robert Morris University basketball team 82-56 Wednesday in McKale Center.

In his first career start, forward Jesse Perry scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds. Perry, who had a career game with 10 points and six rebounds at North Carolina State Sunday, played in place of regular starter Jamelle Horne.

Again, the Wildcats (11-2) were led by sophomore Derrick Williams, who posted a 17-point, nine-rebound performance.

After a first half in which Arizona led 38-28 and got outrebounded 20-17 by a smaller Robert Morris (4-7) squad, the Wildcats blasted RMU in the second half by shooting 58 percent from the field to RMU’s 32 percent.

For the game, Arizona shot 50 percent to RMU’s 34 percent while also producing a 41 percent accuracy from 3-point range.

The Wildcat bench again played well despite Perry playing with the starting unit.

Horne scored seven points, guard Brendon Lavender scored nine — all from 3-point range — and Kevin Parrom’s five assists led the team.

The win marks the end of Arizona’s nonconference schedule and the Wildcats will open their Pacific 10 Conference run at Oregon on Dec. 30.
