    Men’s Golf Brief

    Two Wildcats given Pac-10 honors

A day after the Arizona men’s golf team wrapped up the 2008 Pacific-10 Conference Championships with a sixth place finish which knocked them out of playoff contention, the team received some good news. Senior Creighton Honeck, who earned his first career win at the Pac-10 tournament, and freshman Tarquin MacManus were given All-Conference honors as voted by the head coaches of the Pac-10.

Honeck earned a first-team selection while MacManus was selected to the second-team.

The pair of players are the 93rd and 94th players to receive the Pac-10 honors in school history, and Honeck is the 44th to garner a first-team All-Pac-10 selection since the 2005 campaign.

Honeck, the leader of a young Wildcat team, led or shared the team lead in rounds played (35), rounds at par or better (18) and appearances (12) to go along with his 72.86 stroke average. MacManus had three top-10 finishes, carded 17 rounds at par or better and led Arizona in stroke average at 72.51 – the fifth lowest average for a freshman in Arizona history.
