Bennedict Mathurin (0) and Dalen Terry (4) celebrate their win against UCLA in McKale Center on Feb. 3. The Arizona men’s basketball team won the game 76-66.

The Arizona men’s basketball team hosts USC today on short rest after Thursday’s emphatic win.

Today, Arizona will be back in McKale Center to welcome head coach Andy Enfield and his USC Trojans. As of the past month, the Trojans have been out of sync after a hot 13-0 start.

Isaiah Mobley, the brother of Cleveland Cavalier Evan Mobley, highlights the talented group.

For the Trojans, the past month has consisted of lopsided play. After USC was ranked as high as No. 5 in the AP polls, two losses to Stanford and one to University of Oregon brought the Trojans down to No. 19, which is what they entered this afternoon’s contest at.

Nonetheless, there is plenty of talent on this roster. As mentioned, Mobley is a 6-foot-10-inch junior averaging just shy of 15 points per game. With an overall great feel for the game, Mobley can stretch out opposing big to the perimeter as he shoots the ball well from deep. He also has excellent footwork inside for someone his size. Boogie Ellis, the former Memphis Tiger, is a shifty aggressive guard who can score in bunches. It will be crucial for Arizona to contain him in open space. Arizona’s Kerr Kriisa will be his assignment, and it will be essential for Kriisa to slow him down early.

The Trojans play at a much slower pace than Arizona, so the formula to win this game will be simple. The Wildcats will need to rely on their defense as USC tends to go through shooting woes at times. The Trojans also excel on the glass, so limiting second-chance points will be critical.

Against UCLA, Arizona saw production all throughout their lineup, having five players in double figures. The Wildcats will look to continue their offensive surge against a USC team who looks to gain some momentum as conference play begins to tighten up.

Arizona will meet USC on FOX tonight in McKale Center.
