Brielmaier named to Pac-10 All-Academic Team
The season may be over for the UA men’s basketball season but that doesn’t mean forward Bret Brielmaier can’t live up to his motto: Just livin’ the dream.
The senior interdisciplinary studies major was named to the Pacific 10 Conference All-Academic team, league commissioner Tom Hansen announced Wednesday.
Brielmaier, a native of Mankato, Minn., was one of five players selected to the first team with a 3.09 GPA.
He is the 10th UA men’s basketball player to be honored and the first since Jason Ranne and Andre Igudala in 2003-04.
Bayless earns All-America honors
UA guard Jerryd Bayless was selected as a third-team All-American by rivals.com and was a fourth-team pick by collegehoops.net. He now has three such honors after being named to the second team by Sports Illustrated earlier this month.
Bayless averaged 19.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in 30 appearances.
He set the record for most points scored by a Wildcat freshman, with 592.
