UA basketball freshmen Alex Jacobson and Zane Johnson will sit this season out as redshirts, so long as the team doesn’t need them in an emergency situation, interim head coach Kevin O’Neill said.
O’Neill said he doesn’t see the duo getting a lot of – if any – time on the floor this season and that they’ll be upgrading their lifting routines and individual workouts. It was an agreement that was made with head coach Lute Olson, who has been gone on a leave of absence since Nov. 4.
“”I have to get stronger,”” Johnson said. “”I lift like every three days now. I was lifting twice a week before.””
O’Neill added that both Jacobson, a 6-foot-11 center, and Johnson, a 6-foot-5 forward, must be ready to come off the bench, just in case.
