Arizona women’s soccer heads back to Tucson this weekend after concluding its three-game road trip, going 1-1-1 in those contests. The team will look to snap its two-game winless streak as it hosts the University of Oregon this Thursday and Oregon State University on Sunday.
The team is 8-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play. This weekend’s matches are shaping up to be very important for the ‘Cats. They sit tied for No. 7 in the Pac-12 conference but are just three points out of No. 4 and five points out of No. 3 in the conference. The UA hopes to continue to get production out of its forwards, Brooke Wilson, Jada Talley and Jill Aguilera, who have been lighting up the scoreboard. The trio combines for 15 of the teams’ 27 goals this season. True freshman Hope Hisey has also made a name for herself as she has tallied 29 saves in her last six games.
The University of Oregon Ducks, who have been severely struggling against its Pac-12 opponents so far, posting an 0-4-2 record in conference play with its last win coming back on Sept. 22 against University at Buffalo.
The Ducks have given up 27 goals this year — the most among Pac-12 teams — while only scoring 23 goals, placing them at No. 10 in the conference. Oregon is spearheaded by a pair of sophomores, forward Jordan Wormdahl and forward Zoe Hasenauer. Wormdahl leads the team with six goals while Hasenauer leads the team with four assists while also knocking in four goals this season.
Oregon State University has also been laboring through its conference schedule as the previously undefeated Beavers have failed to pick up a win in its last three games, winning just one game in conference play. They are 9-3-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the Pac-12. Forwards Mckenzie Weinert and Brianna McReynolds combine for 43 points with Weinert scoring seven goals this season and McReynolds scoring five.
The action begins at Mulcahy Stadium on Thursday at 7 p.m. against the University of Oregon. The weekend will conclude on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Oregon State University.
