    3 things to know today

    Senate confirms regent

    The Arizona Senate officially confirmed Fred DuVal as the newest member of the Arizona Board of Regents this week. DuVal is a former aide to President Clinton and Arizona Gov. Bruce Babbitt. DuVal grew up in Tucson and attended the UA. He received a law degree from Arizona State University.

    Blood drive

    Today is the last day to donate blood at the lower level of the UA Bookstore from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The drive is 45 percent short of its week-long goal. “”O-type”” blood donors are needed. All donors receive a free T-shirt.

    “”Blood Diamond””

    The Associated Students of the University of Arizona and the University Activities Board are hosting a free showing of “”Blood Diamond”” at Gallagher Theater at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Following the showing, Tom Zoellner, the author of “”The Heartless Stone,”” will host a question and answer session regarding concepts in the movie.
