Arizona men’s golf will host the Pac-12 Championships Friday through Sunday at The Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Ariz.
Competition will tee off at 7:30 a.m. Admission is free.
The field includes No. 2 California, No. 6 Stanford, No. 14 UCLA and No. 15 Washington.
Head coach Jim Anderson said he altered the Wildcats’ schedule heading into the Pac-12 Championships.
“I knew that we would want to wrap up early just so we could have adequate rest,” Anderson said. “Knowing that we were going to have a somewhat inexperienced group, I thought it was more valuable to get us ready here at home.”
Anderson said the Wildcats have played well in tournaments held in Southern Arizona this season.
“We’ve done a pretty good job in the past, specifically this semester, of putting together good rounds and good finishes at home,” Anderson said.
This tournament is at The Gallery Golf Club and not the team’s home course of Sewailo Golf Club at the Casino Del Sol. The host team is decided well in advance, and Sewailo was not completed then.
“It’s really neat to get to see the great facilities across the Pac-12,” Anderson said. “We get to experience golf in so many different climates and so many different parts of the West Coast.”
For the Pac-12 Championships, the Wildcats’ lineup will include senior Erik Oja, senior Christian Colegrove, senior Benson Liu, junior Brenden Redfern and sophomore Kolton Lapa.
Oja was just selected as a member of the 2014 Palmer Cup.
“I’m excited for what he can do to finish off his amateur career,” Anderson said.
