Oyen signs nine

Newly appointed head coach Lisa Oyen signed her first recruiting class to the Arizona soccer program on Wednesday. Arizona women’s soccer signed nine letters of intent, securing one recruit each from Colorado and Utah, two from both Arizona and California and three from Oregon.

“”We were seeking dynamic, attack-oriented players up front and in the midfield, along with solid defenders,”” Oyen said in a press release Wednesday. “”We feel we have a solid defensive group in place, and hope that we can bolster our attack with players from this class and those already in the program.””

The Wildcats broke their recruiting class into two goalkeepers, three midfielders, three midfielder/forwards and one defender.

“”I am really excited to announce this deep and talented class,”” Oyen said in the press release. “”Each of them can come in and have an immediate impact on our program. They are all very good student-athletes who are excited to be a part of this program.””

Lorena Aragon, one of the two goalkeepers, is a local prospect from St. Augustine Catholic High School. She, along with Samantha Cummings — from Xavier College Preparatory in Phoenix — round out the class from the state of Arizona.
