The Arizona women’s golf team will be looking to continue its strong season this week as it opens its spring season today at the Northrop Grumman Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. The event is hosted by Ohio State University and will be played today through Wednesday at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
The event is a 54-hole tournament consisting of 18 holes each day and will be played on a par-71 course covering 5,912 yards.
The No. 8 Wildcats will be competing against 14 other teams including ASU, UCLA, Southern California and Texas A&M, to name a few.
The team will send out five of its best to compete in the tournament, including senior Alison Walshe, who has five top-ten finishes so far this year. Alejandra Llaneza, Mary Jacobs and Amanda Wilson will also compete.
UA head coach Shelly Haywood said she has high expectations for the tournament.
“”I don’t think I have seen this team more prepared to start the spring season, both physically and mentally,”” she said. “”We have incredible team chemistry right now and we are ready to show the rest of the country just how good we can be.””
