    I-5 crash follows possible abduction

Renton police and state troopers are investigating an injury car crash on northbound Interstate 5 that began with an apparent abduction of a woman Sunday afternoon.

Around 12:45 p.m., a witness called 911 to report seeing two men force a woman into a car in the 600 block of Monster Road Southwest and drive away, police said. The witness tailed the vehicle until police officers could catch up with it.

Officers attempted to stop the car, a 1997 silver Saturn, but the driver refused to pull over, according to police.

Police chased the car into Tukwila, where the driver merged onto northbound I-5, police said. As he entered the freeway, the driver made a 180-degree turn, at which point officers terminated their pursuit.

The Saturn, heading south in the northbound lanes, collided head-on with another vehicle, police said. The Saturn’s driver, a male passenger and the woman were taken toHarborview Medical Center.

“”Due to their conditions, none have been identified, and their relationship and the circumstances leading up to the apparent abduction are unknown,”” Renton police Detective Robert Onishi said in a news release.

It is unclear if anyone in the second vehicle was injured.
