The Arizona softball (36-7, 7-4 Pacific 10 Conference) team battered the Oregon State Beavers (22-22, 2-8 Pac-10) for 14 hits in a 20-1 victory Friday night at Hillenbrand Stadium.
Senior K’Lee Arredondo neared a cycle and game a double short, going 3-for-4 and driving in four runs. She hit a two-RBI homer to center field in the third inning and a tripled to knock in another two runs in the second — it was part of Arizona’s nine-run second inning that blew the game open.
Freshman Kenzie Fowler got the start in the circle and went the four innings — she struck out five while giving up just one hit — before being relieved by senior Ashley Ralston-Alvarez.
The Beavers scored their only run on Ralston-Alvarez on the final out.
The three-pitcher crew of Oregon State went through 37 Wildcat batters.
Six total Arizona batters had at least two RBIs.
Game 2 of the Pac-10 series will continue Saturday night at 7.
