Arizona Board of Regents president Tom Anderes has announced that he will not seek an extension to his current contract, which is set to end on June 30, 2013, according to a press release issued by the board today.
In the release, Anderes said that the board has been successful in several areas over the past two years, and has “(set) forth clear strategic goals for the future.”
Anderes has worked in higher education throughout the country for the past 36 years and earned an undergraduate and master’s degree from the UA before receiving a doctoral degree from the University of Connecticut. According to the release, Anderes plans to focus on spending time with his family, volunteering, teaching and providing advice to other university systems nationwide.
Upon the announcement, the board has began a search to fill the position, and will serve as its own search committee instead of hiring a consultant.
