The Arizona football team is losing more than games.
With the Wildcats on the verge of a ninth consecutive bowl-less year, four-star recruit Robert Golden announced Monday that he is no longer verbally committed to Arizona.
The Edison High School senior from Fresno, Calif., told GoAZCats.com he had apprehensions committing to the UA in the midst of a losing season and with coaches’ statuses potentially in question.
“”I’m still looking at (Arizona), but I just had some concerns with how the season was going,”” Golden said. “”I want to go into a situation with a stable coaching staff, and I just wasn’t 100 percent sure that would be the case at Arizona.””
The recruiting Web site Rivals.com lists Golden as the nation’s No. 11 cornerback prospect.
“”I want to take all my (recruiting) trips, and once I’m done with that, I’ll figure out where the best place for me is,”” Golden said. “”Who knows, that could still be Arizona. But right now, I just want to keep things wide open.””
