Women’s golf finishes sixth at loaded Northman Grumman Regional Challenge

No. 13 Arizona women’s golf finished in sixth place at the Northman Grumman Regional Challenge.
It was the fourth time this season that the Wildcats have finished in the top ten.

Pac-12 rival No. 1 USC won, with No. 3 Duke taking second and No. 7 Arizona State finishing in third place. USC also walked away with the individual win also, as Annie Park won the individual award finishing 6 under par.

“The girls fought extremely hard and they never gave up,” UA assistant coach Derek Radley said. “Even though we finished sixth and it wasn’t exactly where we wanted to [finish], it was a very strong field, we beat a lot of good teams, and we were right there close to the other good teams.”

The UA’s top individual performer was sophomore Lindsey Weaver who finished eighth place and shooting three over par. Junior Andrea Vilarasau took 15th, freshmen Jessica Vasilic was 22nd, junior Kendall Prince came in at 38th place and junior Manon Gidali finished in 71st place.

Radley was optimistic after the tournament.

“There is so much talent on this team, it is limitless the success they can have,” Radley said.

Up next for Arizona is the Bruin Wave International which will take place on March 3-4 at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, Calif.
