President Barack Obama will visit UA campus on Wednesday

President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle will address the UA campus community in the McKale Memorial Center at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12 in response to Saturday’s shooting spree that killed six and left Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition.

UA President Robert Shelton, members of the Associated Students of the University of Arizona, and state and federal officials are also slated to speak at the event, which has been dubbed “”Together We Thrive: Tucson and America.””

The event is free and open to the public, doors will open at 4 p.m. and those hoping to attend are encouraged to arrive early due to expected capacity crowds and heightened security at McKale Center.

The start of classes has been delayed until Thursday to accommodate the event.
