Arizona men’s and women’s track and field teams will be split up among three meets this weekend.
The distance runners will compete in the Husky Classic in Seattle. The jumpers, sprinters and throwers will go to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete in the Don Kirby Elite. Senior Lawi Lalang will compete in the Wannamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in New York City.
In Seattle, the Wildcats will compete against ASU, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Stanford, and Washington, among others.
In Albuquerque, Arizona is set to compete against ASU, California, Colorado, Miami, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio State, Oregon, UCLA, USC and many others.
Lalang will be competing at the Millrose Games for the third-straight year. This race will be Lalang’s first mile of the season. Lalang set the collegiate record in the 5K, posting a time of 13:08.28. He already holds the No. 1 time in the country for the men’s 3K at 7:44.20.
In Seattle, freshman Matt Beer will run the mile along with sophomore Sam Willis and junior Dylan Hopper. In the 5K, sophomore Kayla Beattie, junior Stephanie Bulder and junior Clea Formaz will run for the Wildcats.
In Albuquerque, freshman Jordan Young will compete in the weight throw competition. In the 600-meter race, freshman Miles Parish, freshman Bryce Houston and junior Neil Houlihan will run for Arizona.
Junior Shakayla McEaddy and freshman Lisanne Hagens will do the high jump. In the women’s 4×400-meter relay, Arizona will run the quartet of sophomore Nnenya Hailey, freshman Jasper Gray, senior Tamara Pridgett and senior Shapri Romero.
