After getting dismantled against Oregon on Friday night, Arizona women’s basketball rallied from a seven-point deficit in the second half to win 65-58 in overtime against Oregon State. This was its first win over a top-10 team on the road. The Wildcats improved from their sluggish night in Eugene with an impressive defensive display. Oregon State had 14 turnovers and completely fell apart at the end of the game. 

Senior forward Dominique McBryde had one of her best games of the season. She had a season-high 19 points and also totaled 8 rebounds and was all over the court on both ends, along with Cate Reese, who totaled 13 points and 4 rebounds. 

In overtime, Sam Thomas made a 3-pointer that would be the only field goal that the Wildcats would make in overtime. Believe it or not, those were the only points Thomas had on the weekend, and they eventually became the only ones that mattered at the end of the game.

Arizona has plenty of takeaways from this weekend. A split against two top-10 teams on the road is a big step in the right direction for the program. Arizona has seen the best and worst of what the team is capable of performing this year. From having one of the worst performances of the year at No. 3 Oregon to beating No. 9 Oregon State, the team hit its floor and ceiling this season all in one weekend. 

Overall, this Wildcats team is exceeding new heights, and their 19-4 record has taken them a long way from where they were four years ago. There is a great chance that they could host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament at McKale Center. Arizona only faces one ranked team for the rest of the season, when it will play current AP top-10 powerhouse Stanford at home. This weekend, Arizona will host Washington on Friday and Washington State on Sunday.
