The Arizona women’s basketball team has hired a new coordinator of women’s basketball operations, Jashell Mitchell.
Mitchell replaces Keyshia Conner, who left after her first season with the program to pursue a career outside athletics.
UA head coach Joan Bonvicini said the program received close to 100 applicants when the position opened.
“”We narrowed it down and brought in a few people, and (Mitchell) was clearly someone that I think will do a great job,”” Bonvicini said.
Mitchell, who coached the seventh-grade girls’ team at Donnell Middle School in Ohio last year, has previous experience in basketball operations, having served in a similar role for the men’s basketball and football programs at her alma mater, Bethune-Cookman.
At Arizona, she’ll handle travel plans and practice schedules and will serve as a liaison between the team and its booster club.
Mitchell lettered all four years in basketball at Bethune-Cookman.
