What is one exotic place you have visited?

I think the most exotic place I’ve visited would be Costa Rica.

    Why is it exotic?

The vegetation is just so different from anything I’ve ever seen in Tucson. There is just green everywhere and lots of animals.

What did you do while in Costa Rica?

    I lived with a host-family for a month and I volunteered at a special-education school.

How long did you stay there?

I was there for a month.

What was your experience living with a host-family?

I think it was a really good experience, because it not only taught me about the culture, but it taught me how the locals live, and that was really interesting. I definitely bonded with a lot of people even though I couldn’t fully understand them most of the time; but I still felt this really strong bond at the end of the month.

What are some differences between American culture and Costa Rican culture?

Costa Rican culture is really different, because they are more environmentally friendly in certain aspects and they are very close with their families, even with their extended families. They all live together.

What do you plan on doing with your major after you graduate?

I want to work with patients with aphasia, because I find it fascinating what can go wrong with the brain and how it affects humans and language.
