Senior Standouts
Outside hitter and three-time All-American Kim Glass was no stranger to success in her first three years on the Arizona volleyball team, but it wasn’t until her senior season that all the pieces fell into place.
After undergoing shoulder surgery in the offseason, Glass was at full strength to begin the 2005 season and averaged a team-high 5.48 kills per game and 3.04 digs per game.
“”I think her senior year was the year she felt the most comfortable,”” Arizona head coach Dave Rubio said. “”I think as a result of that, she had the best year that she’s had in the four years that she went to school here.””
Sophomore setter Amy Dyck said Glass’ presence and athletic prowess on the court made her teammates’ jobs a little easier.
“”There was no doubt in my mind if I just got the ball up in a reasonable area for her that it was going over (the net) and most likely scoring a point,”” Dyck said.
Glass capped off her senior campaign by helping lead the Wildcats to the Elite Eight and to the team’s best conference mark (14-4) since 2001.
Her success at the collegiate level propelled her into a professional career, as she now competes with Sport Society Alfieri Volley Santeramo in Santeramo, Italy.
