Arizona associate head coach Lorenzo Romar walks off the court after celebrating the 75-61 Arizona championship win over USC at the 2018 Pac-12 Tournament on Saturday, March 10 in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Arizona men’s basketball assistant coach Lorenzo Romar is expected to be the next head coach of Pepperdine, according to Jon Rothstein at FanRag Sports.

The news comes shortly after Arizona won the Pac-12 Tournament Championship and Romar is expected to remain a part of the Arizona coaching staff through the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Romar has served as the assistant coach on Miller’s staff since April 2017 after previously being the head coach at Washington from 2002-2017. Romar’s first head coaching gig was at Pepperdine from 1996-1998 so the move marks a return to where he first began his head coaching career.

An official announcement is expected to be made later this week.
