Arizona’s men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Minneapolis over the weekend to compete in the highly regarded Roy Griak Invitational.

Running against a number of top programs on Saturday, the Wildcats struggled as the women took 12th overall out of 26 teams while the men placed 19th out of 23 schools.

The women were led by a 23rd-place finish from Addi Zerrenner, who clocked in at 22:13 in the 6K meter race. It was the third time this year that the redshirt freshman led the team.

Teammate Claire Green finished two seconds behind Zerrenner at 22:15, placing in at 24th.

Kayla Ferron, Kate Penney and Kirsten Vergara rounded out the women’s five scorers.

For the men, Collins Kibet was the team’s top individual finisher at 71st place. Kibet ran a 26:24 time in the 8K meter race.

Sam Willis finished a few seconds behind Kibet at 74th overall.

Seamus White, Patrick Leary and Daniom Tecle also placed for the men’s side.

The Arizona cross country teams return to action on Oct. 9, when the Wildcats host the UA Open at Quincie Douglas Park.
