The Women in Science and Engineering program and the University of Arizona Career Services have partnered together to host the STEM Interview Workshop on February 29 from 5-7 p.m.
The workshop aims to help students strengthen their basic interview skills by providing participants with the dos and don’ts of job interviews.
Some of the WISE interns wanted to develop interview skills and prepare for internship and jobs, so they designed an interview workshop to help obtain these skills.
“Having strong interview skills is important in standing out as an applicant, especially with so many strong resumes these days,” said WISE community outreach intern Rachel Bear.
In the first part of the event, students will learn basic interviewing tips from experts at Career Services. In the second part, students can apply their knowledge in mock interviews.
Mock interviews will last 10-15 minutes and will be conducted by a variety of people such as graduate students, researchers, STEM professionals and members of Career Services.
“The event is a great opportunity to practice for job interviews, prepare for the workforce, and get actual practice with interviewing,” said Jill Williams, director of WISE.
The STEM Interview Workshop will be held in the Gender and Women Studies building in room 100. Free pizza will be included.
