This holiday season has heightened the realities of just how much the coronavirus pandemic is shaping our world. During a season that revolves around getting together with friends and family, social distancing can be a real downer on the holiday cheer. However, to combat these harsh realities, University of Arizona students have turned to Christmas decorating to spark joy in these dark times.

Blew is a sophomore at the University of Arizona majoring in journalism. She said that decorating for Christmas was always a tradition growing up and she wanted to bring that tradition to her Tucson apartment.
“Quarantine kind of sucks and it’d be nice to have some spirit. We started with Halloween, that’s when we decided we needed to bring some spirit into our house. And Halloween turned into Thanksgiving and turned into Christmas, and so we’ve just kept it alive,” Blew said.
