The Arizona soccer team hosted Oregon State University at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium on Oct. 27, 2022. Arizona would lose 3-2.

The Arizona soccer team will take on the University of Oregon on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium in Tucson.

This marks the Wildcats’ first in-conference game of the season. The Wildcats lost their last matchup on the road on Saturday, Sept. 16, against Gonzaga University, 1-3Arizona (3-2-3) has a season that has been marked by continuous up-and-down performances up to this point, but they will seek to regain momentum this week.

The Wildcats’ key players to watch are:

Offense:

  • Nicole Dallin (#23)
  • Cameron Valladares (#8)
  • Megan Chelf (#6)

Midfield:

  • Sami Baytosh (#14)
  • Nyota Katembo (#11)

Defense:

  • Marissa Arnst (#19)
  • Ella Hatteberg (#15)
  • Aranda Hurge (#12)

Each of these players have made an appearance in all eight games this season.

Dallin leads Arizona in scoring with six goals and is one of just four players to have scored in every game this season. Her ball control and relentless efforts are evident both on the field and in her statistics. She will be going head-to-head with starting Oregon defenders Anna Phillips, Anna Emperador and Kristin Conti

Arizona goalkeeper Hope Hisey continues to impress, making her 75th start as a Wildcat in last week’s game. Earlier in the season against Boise State University, Hisey achieved her 300th career save. This made her one of three active Division I goalkeepers to reach this milestone. She remains a steadfast presence for the Wildcats, providing vocal leadership on the field.

The Ducks have yet to secure a victory in their non-conference series (0-6-2). Comparatively, in their early-season games against NAU and Boise State, the Wildcats defeated the Lumberjacks 2-1 while the Ducks suffered a 2-3 loss to them. Both teams tied the Bronco 1-1.

This should be a game Arizona wins, allowing them to rebound from last week’s loss.

For those unable to attend in person, the match can be streamed live on the Pac-12 network.
