Freshman Matt Huff is scootering his way to Australia

Matthew Huffman does a flair on a quarterpipe at Premises Park in Tucson on Sept. 25. Large flip tricks such as this are typical of what you may see in a World Championship Finals run.

Many people remember scooters as nothing more than small foldable toys from their childhood, but not Matthew Huffman. Huffman, better known as Matt Huff, is a professionally sponsored scooter rider, as well as a freshman at the University of Arizona. He originally started skateboarding at the age of eight in New Jersey, where he is originally from. However, after seeing another kid do a backflip on a scooter at his local skatepark when he was 12, Huffman made the switch and has never looked back. He is currently ranked as a top three rider in the nation and will be going to Australia in a couple weeks in hopes of being crowned the new world champion.
