The Arizona gymnastics team earned a score of 197.00, ranking seventh-highest in the program’s history, against Stanford University (196.000) on Saturday, Jan. 27, in McKale Center. The Gym Cats also tied the program’s record on the uneven bars with a score of 49.475. At the meet, Arizona scored the highest on the vault, bars, beam and floor. Stanford’s Brenna Neault scored the highest in all-around.
Vault:
In their first rotation, Arizona scored 48.950 on vault. Malia Hargrove led the team with a score of 9.875. Alysen Fears followed up with her score of 9.825. Abigayle Martin earned a 9.800 and Ainsley Greever scored a 9.750. Lastly, Jessica Castles (9.700) and Emma Strom (9.650) round up Arizona’s vault score.
Uneven bars:
Arizona tied its program’s record on the uneven bars with a score of 49.475 in their second rotation. Martin earned a career-high of 9.975 on her routine. Emily Mueller and Sophie Derr also earned career-highs of 9.900. Hargrove acquired a season-high of 9.875. Bailey McCabe scored a 9.825 and Fears posted a 9.800.
Balance beam:
In their third rotation on beam, the Wildcats earned a season-high team score of 49.175. Elena Deets earned a career-high of 9.925. Mueller (9.875) and Castles (9.825) both earned season-highs. Martin scored a 9.800, Fears posted 9.750 and Caroline Herry earned a 9.175.
Floor:
For the third time this season, Arizona scored a 49.40 on floor in its last rotation. Mueller and Herry both posted 9.900 to lead the team. Deets scored a 9.875, gaining a season-high. Hargrove earned a 9.875, Strom posted a 9.850 and Fears scored a 9.050 to set the team’s score.
