The University of Arizona soccer team lost to Texas Christian University 1-0 on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Wildcats fall to 6-3-1 on the season and 1-2 in Big 12 conference play.
TCU started the match aggressively as they pressed the Wildcats and created several chances early in the game. Although Arizona had trouble getting into a rhythm in the first half, their defense, led by goalkeeper Olivia Ramey, made a number of crucial stops to keep TCU away from scoring the first points.
Coming out of halftime, Arizona showed more attacking intent. Their efforts were shown but not enough. In the 66th minute, TCU’s Caroline Kelly laid one in, giving TCU the lead.
With just 10 minutes remaining, TCU’s persistent pressure paid off. The Wildcats started to lose momentum. With the Wildcats unable to score, they lost 1-0.
The Wildcats will return home to play the University of Cincinnati on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.
