The University of Arizona soccer tied 1-1 against University of West Virginia on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m. at Murphey Field. The Wildcats are now ( 8-3-2) on the season and (2-2) in conference play.
The match started off aggressive on both sides of the field, as Arizona was trying to keep their undefeated home stand. West Virginia came off strong, scoring only 20 minutes into the game. The Wildcats continued to bring the intensity throughout the first half. Fouls were a common mistake that kept occurring for both teams slowing the game.
West Virginia had three shots on goal while the Wildcats only had one going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime, Arizona was determined to get a goal. Nicole Dallin laid one in to get the match tied 1-1 in the 53rd minute. The final minutes were a whirlwind of action, as both teams had chances to take the lead, but neither could find the decisive goal.
Goalie Olivia Ramey continued to protect the Wildcats’ goal, not letting West Virginia come back and holding the game to a tie.
The Wildcats’ next game will be against BYU in Tucson on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at Murphey Field.
