A field filled with many large and small tents stood at the center of Rillito Park Racetrack. People happily danced, ate Hispanic food and drank tequila. The main attraction was a massive stage erected near the edge of the field, where live performances by T.I., Lil Jon and many others took place.
This was the sight of the Tucson Taco Festival, presented by Activated Events. According to head of marketing Chrissy Greco, Activated Events has been operating across the southern U.S. for 10 years.
“Activated Events was founded in Southern California more than 10 years ago,” Greco said in an email response. “Taco Fests in 2025 [took] place in Tucson AZ, Albuquerque NM and Norco CA.”
In Tucson, the festival featured a range of events, from amateur Lucha Libre matches to classic car shows. It also included tequila sampling, numerous taco vendors and even a cornhole tournament for festival goers.
“In 2021 and 2023 we threw similar events known as ‘Fiesta de Taco,’” Greco said. “Featuring artists like Flo Rida, T-Pain, 2Chainz, Lil Jon, O.T. Genasis, Too Short, Ying Yang Twins among others.”
This year’s event was such a success that Activated Events is proud to announce their next festival in Tucson for the upcoming fall season. Set to take place at the same venue, “Boots in the Park” has been officially scheduled for Oct. 18. The country music festival will feature performances by Chris Young, Dustin Lynch, Tucker Wetmore, Avery Anna and more.
