Fresh figs have a pretty bad rep. They are thought to have a foreign texture and taste. This ancient little fruit is, however, something to be admired. Among the most commonly mentioned fruits in the Bible, figs are high in nutritious value. According to WHfoods.org, figs are chock full of potassium, which is useful for athletes, but especially good for controlling blood pressure. Figs are also high in fiber, which can be helpful when you're trying to lose weight. The fruit itself is positively addictive. Despite the fact that figs are oddly shaped and their interiors look somewhat like brains, they're delicious. They're slightly crunchy due to the tiny nuts inside, but they're refreshingly sweet and somewhat mushy. Trying a fig is a bit of a dare, but definitely worth it.
