Summer tip of the week

Tucson's increasingly stormy weather is making it more and more difficult to enjoy a peaceful afternoon by the pool. Fortunately, you can always sit inside with the stereo on, blasting your favorite CD.

Last we checked, the UofA BookStore in the Student Union Memorial Center is offering excellent deals - up to 75 percent off - on its fast-dwindling CD supply. So whether your tastes run toward 50 Cent or Juliana Hatfield, check it out before it's all gone.

If they run out before you get there, Tucson has a steadily dwindling supply of great record stores to check out. CD City closed its doors last year, and Zia Records seems slicker and more corporate-oriented every time we visit, but Tucson institution PDQ Records and Tapes, 2342 N. Dodge Blvd., is still going strong, and the beloved punk stop Toxic Ranch Records, 424 E. Sixth St., will never die. Just like punk itself.
