ASUA candidates Bennett Adamson, Sydney Hess and Kate Rosenstengel stand together after the Executive Q&A on Thursday, March 21 in the SUMC. The three students are the only candidates running for ASUA’s executive positions for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Associated Students of the University of Arizona, the university’s undergraduate governing body, passed a resolution in support of the LGBTQ+ community and discussed their budget at their senate meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Trans Day of Resilience Resolution Passed

College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Senator Matt Hernandez worked with Pride Alliance to create a resolution in support of Trans Day of Resilience. The resolution was created in solidarity and support for the students of the transgender and gender non-conforming community in recognition of their contributions and efforts to the university.

Along with ASUA recognizing and supporting the community, the resolution also recognizes Nov. 20 as the official Trans Day of Resilience at the university. The resolution was moved to an action item, then unanimously passed by the senate.

Budget Update

The Appropriations Board met on Monday, Nov. 18 in a double meeting because they had not met the previous week. They approved $11,327, which was more than the average to reflect the week they had been away. The budget has a remaining balance of $103,701 — less than half of its original budget. The senate approved the $11,327 allocated this week by the committee.
