The UA men’s golf team finished in a two-way tie for fifth place at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate last week in Lihue, Hawaii.
The tournament was cut short by a day because of inclement weather resulting in flash flood warnings and thunderstorms.
“The guys really wanted to avenge some mistakes from yesterday and finish on a strong note,” head coach Jim Anderson said in a press release. “Unfortunately, the weather and conditions on the course made it impossible to play.”
California, which is the three-time defending champion, won the John A. Burns Intercollegiate. BYU and Texas A&M tied for second place, and the individual champion was Justin Keiley of BYU. Leading the way for Arizona was senior Erik Oja, who finished third, and senior Benson Liu, who tied for 14th place.
The men’s golf team will be in action again on March 3 in the Del Walker Invitational, which will take place in Long Beach, Calif.
