A man riding a motorcycle was taken by air ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center after he was involved in a three-vehicle accident in Marysville on Tuesday evening.
According to Marysville police, the man, who was not identified but was believed to be from the Hallwood area, was headed west on Swezy Street when he somehow became involved in an accident that also included a man driving a Chevrolet van and another man driving a Buick Century sedan. The accident, reported at 6:52 p.m. was at Swezy and 17th streets and appeared to include a collision between the van and the sedan. Police said they weren’t immediately sure how the man on the motorcycle, a Kawasaki KLX, was involved, or the identities of the other two drivers.
After about 30 minutes, a helicopter landed in a nearby park and took the motorcycle driver away with what police described as major injuries, including broken bones. Dozens of nearby residents looked on as the helicopter flew off.
Police Cpl. Chris Miller said the driver of the Century was taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville with complaints of pain, while the driver of the van was uninjured.
It was not immediately clear what caused the accident or if anyone would be cited. Miller said the intersection would be closed for up to two hours.
