Results are coming in for the Aug. 4 Pima County primary election; as of Aug. 6, the county reported over 208,000 ballots casted with about a 35% turnout. The Daily Wildcat compiled all of the unofficial results below:
U.S. Senator
Martha McSally is leading the Republican race with 76% of the vote, while Democrat Mark Kelly ran without competition.
U.S. Representative in Congress
- District 1: Tom O’Halleran won the Democratic race with 58% of the vote, while Republican Tiffany Shedd secured 54%.
- District 2: Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick received 77% of the vote; Republican Brandon Martin pulled ahead with 43% of the vote.
- District 3: Democrat Raúl Grijalva ran without competition and so did Republican Daniel Wood.
State Senator
- Legislative District 2: Democrat Rosanna Gabaldón ran without competition, as did Republican Mark Workman.
- Legislative District 3: Democrat Sally Ann Gonzales ran without competition, and no candidate ran under the Republican ballot.
- Legislative District 4: Democrat Lisa Otondo ran without competition and so did Republican Travis Angry.
- Legislative District 9: Democrat Victoria Steele ran without competition. No candidate ran under the Republican ballot.
- Legislative District 10: Democrat Kirsten Engel ran without competition; Republican Justine Wadsack also ran without competition.
- Legislative District 11: Democrat JoAnna Mendoza received 57% of the vote, and Republican Venden Leach ran without competition.
- Legislative District 14: Democrat Bob Karp ran without competition, and so did Republican David Gowan.
State Representative
- Legislative District 2: Daniel Hernandez Jr. pulled ahead of the Democratic race with 32% of the vote. Republican Deborah McEwen ran without competition.
- Legislative District 3: Democrat Alma Hernandez secured 45% of the vote over two competing candidates, and no candidate filed under the Republican ballot.
- Legislative District 4: Democrat Charlene Fernandez received 59% of the vote; Republican Joel John ran without competition.
- Legislative District 9: Democrat Pamela Powers Hannely received just over 480 more votes than competitor Randall Friese. Republican Brendan Lyons ran without competition.
- Legislative District 10: Republican Michael Hicks secured about 58% of the vote. Democrat Domingo DeGrazia received 41% of the vote ahead of two other candidates.
- Legislative District 11: Democrat Felipe R. Perez ran without competition, and Republican Mark Finchem received 53% of the vote.
- Legislative District 14: Republican Gail Griffin received 51% of the vote over competitor Becky Nutt, leading by about 850 votes. Democrat Kimberly Beach-Moschetti received 53% of the vote over competitor Ronnie Maestas-Condos with about 1,800 more votes.
Corporation Commissioner
Eric Sloan won the Republican race for Corporation Commissioner with 53% of the vote. Anna Tovar lead the Democratic race with 39% of the vote.
Board of Supervisors
- District 1: Rex Scott received 67% of the vote on the Democrat ballot, while Republican candidate Steve Spain pulled ahead of three other Republican candidates with 33% of the vote.
- District 2: Republican Anthony Sizer did not have any competing candidates, while Democrat Matt Heinz won with over 52% of the vote against two other candidates.
- District 3: Democrat Sharon Bronson won the majority 58% of votes against Juan Padrés, and Republican Mercer Saucedo did not have any competitors.
- District 4: Republican Steve Christy received almost 65% of the republican vote ahead of competitor John Backer, and Democrat Steve Diamond ran without competition.
- District 5: Adelita Grijalva won 67% of the Democrat vote, while Republican Fernando Gonzales did not face any competing candidates.
County Attorney
Democrat Laura Conover beat out two fellow candidates with almost 58% of the vote. No Republican candidates were on the Pima County ballot for County Attorney.
Sheriff
Democrat Chris Nanos secured 67% of the vote, while Republican Mark Napier did not face any competitors.
County Recorder
Republican Benny White ran without competition, while Democrat Gabriella Cázares-Kelly won 63% of the vote.
County Treasurer
Democrat Brian Bickel ran without competitors, as did Republican Beth Ford.
County Assessor
Democrat Suzanne Droubie beat out two competitors with almost 58% of the vote. Republicans did not have any candidates on the ballot.
County Superintendent of Schools
Democrat Dustin Williams did not face competitors, and Republicans did not have any candidates on the ballot.
Justice of the Peace
- Precinct 2: Democrat Erica Cornejo did not have competitors, and Republicans did not have any candidates on the ballot.
- Precinct 4: Democrat Charlene Pesquiera did not have any competitors, and Republicans did not have any candidates on the ballot.
- Precinct 6: Democrat Alexander Ball did not have any competitors, and Republicans did not have any candidates on the ballot.
- Precinct 9: Democrat Kendrick Wilson did not have any competitors, Republicans did not have any candidates on the ballot.
- Precinct 10: Republican Vince Roberts did not have any competitors; Democrats did not have any candidates for the precinct.
Constable
- Justice Precinct 1: Republican John Dorer did not have any competitors, while Democrats did not have any candidates on the ballot for the precinct.
- Justice Precinct 4: Democrat Oscar Vasquez did not have any competitors; Republicans did not have candidates on the ballot.
- Justice Precinct 6: Democrat Bennett Bernal secured 57% of the vote over competitor Roberto Ponti. Republicans did not have candidates on the ballot.
- Justice Precinct 7: Republican Thomas Schenek Jr. did not have any competitors. Democrats did not have any candidates on the ballot.
- Justice Precinct 8: Democrat Kristen Randall did not have any competitors. Republicans did not have candidates on the ballot.
- Justice Precinct 9: Democrat George Camacho won almost 64% of the vote over competitor Joe Ferguson. Republicans did not have candidates on the ballot.
- Justice Precinct 10: Republican Michael Stevenson did not have any competitors, and Democrats did not have any candidates on the ballot.
