The No. 20 Arizona gymnastics team will head to Denver on April 2. The Wildcats moved up from No. 24 after an impressive showing at the Pacific 10 Conference Championships.
Arizona will be greeted by some tough competition. The No. 1 ranked team in the country, the University of Florida, will also be in Denver. Arizona is the No. 5 seed behind: No 12. Arkansas, No. 13 Boise State and the host school, No 19 Denver. Brigham Young University is also in the grouping as the number six seed.
“”We are going to use this week to get our bodies healthy,”” said head coach Bill Ryden. “”We haven’t had a bye week all year and at this point rest is just as important as training.””
Sophomore all-arounder Molly Quirk could use the extra rest after spraining her ankle and knee at the Pac-10 Championships. Ryden expects Quirk to spend a lot of time in the training room but thinks she should be able to go by the time the competition starts.
