Thursday
Built to Spill – You should probably buy your tickets to this classic indie-rock show before they sell out like Beck’s did. They may not have beat boxers and fake hair metal backing bands, but they can still put on a good concert. 8 p.m. $18. Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St.
“”Being There”” – This is a movie about a guy that gets his education from T.V. and is then forced out of the house he was raised in. Judging from the quality of programs today, he’ll at least know how to eat slugs and bitch someone out for a half brain-dead frat guy. 7:30 p.m $3. La Placita Village Plaza, South Church Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard
Saturday
Apocalypso steel band – We’re not sure what an apocalypso is, but hopefully it will include reggae and pan playing instead of eternal hellfire and painstaking damnation. Hopefully. 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Free. 17th Street Market, 810 E. 17th St.
“”Dirty Story”” – Apparently this comedic play has sex, politics and the Middle East in it. That should make a nice combination, especially if you’re Bill Clinton. 10:30 p.m. Donations accepted. Live Theatre Workshop, 5317 E. Speedway Blvd.
Sunday
“”Beauty and The Beast”” – I guess the Disney cartoon is actually the plot of an opera that’s circling around Arizona this next year. The Loft Cinema will be playing the movie version, so you can check out Belle’s tits without feeling guilty. 1 p.m. Free. The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd.
Monday
Invasion of the stick people – Stick it to the man by crashing this kids event. I mean, it’s not like you’re stealing their alcohol or anything. You can make your own characters out of wooden sticks and check out the museum as well. 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. $5.50. Tucson Children’s Museum, 200 S. Sixth Ave.
Tuesday
Create an incredible travel experience – Peter Greenberg, a travel editor and the chief correspondent for the Travel Channel, will give a lecture on planning cool vacations. It’s free, so you can spend your money on lap dances and Tequila instead. 8:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Free. Edward Jones, 6735 E. Broadway Blvd.
Wednesday
Minibosses – This band plays rock renditions of Nintendo game themes, as if it’s never been done. Anime nerds that want to look cool by going to Club Congress will surely enjoy the show though. 9 p.m. $6. Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St.
