Who: Kyle Zager, 18.
Bio: Zager is from Prescott. Zager is a freshman at the UA majoring in 3-D art.
What: Zager is currently working on some comics as well as 3-D art. He enjoys infusing his comics with comedy.
Wildcat: When did you first start?
Zager: I first started doing 3-D sculptures. I was originally interested in claymation. I tried doing that and I tried sculpting to try and build up to make better sculptures to animate with. I started working with Sculpti and then I realized that that was a better route. Then I started working on comics.
W: What is your favorite work?
Z: Probably the sculpture of a plant with a mouth in a pot. It is inspired by Audrey II from “”Little Shop of Horrors.””
W: Who is your favorite artist?
Z: Nicholas Gurewitch. He does a good job at combining artistic ideas and funny ideas and blending the two. Overall, I would have to say he’s my favorite. I like comedy a lot. I also like “”The Perry Bible Fellowship,”” the comics that Gurewitch worked on.
W: What inspired you to start working on comics?
Z: It was Gurewitch that inspired me to do that. Over the last year or two I started to create my own.

W: What’s your favorite color?
Z: Black because it goes well with everything else.
W: What is your favorite food to eat?
Z: Perogies. They’re really good with mashed potatoes.
W: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Z: Wherever the road will take me.
W: What do you think about Tucson?
Z: We don’t have any seasons here, so that’s kind of a downer.
W: Are there any certain themes you like to focus on?
Z: I don’t try to employ anything in my art. I haven’t really been creating my own designs as much as I should be, though.
W: What is your favorite song?
Z: Mussorgsky’s “”Pictures of an Exhibition.”” He covers multiple pieces, but they all flow really well together. They’re dynamic but fluid.
