UA right fielder Jon Gaston received his first Pacific 10 Conference Player of the Week award yesterday.
The sophomore hit .700 with four RBIs and was 5-for-5 in stolen bases as the Wildcats (25-6, 3-0 Pac-10) won four games over the week. He also walked five times and scored four runs.
After going 1-for-2 in Friday’s win over then-No. 4 Oregon State, the 2006 national champion, Gaston was 3-for-3 Saturday with three runs scored and 1-for-2 Sunday with a stolen base.
Gaston opened the week by going 2-for-3 against then-No. 16 ASU in the second-annual Challenge at Chase in Phoenix, where he was named MVP, as Arizona beat the Sun Devils, 6-5.
