Across the country March is a strange month. Snowstorms and ice still coat the East, but here in Tucson spring is in full swing. It’s time to celebrate living in the desert and looking up at blue skies and the hot sun for the rest of the semester. Here’s a track list made for kicking back by the pool.
1
‘Summersong’ by The Decemberists
Loosely based on changing seasons while describing “”boats bobbing in the blue of the bay,”” this indie gem will have you speaking in alliteration well into summer.
2
‘Island in the Sun’ by Weezer
Because who doesn’t want to be on an island in the sun playing and having fun.
3
‘Spring Fever’ by Elvis Presley
The king of rock ‘n’ roll makes spring groove.
4
‘Beautiful Day’ by U2
It doesn’t matter if you like Bono or not – just roll the windows down and go for an empty desert drive with this blasting and the sky will look that much bluer.
5
‘Mr. Blue Sky’ by Electric Light Orchestra
“”Sun is shinin’ in the sky/There ain’t a cloud in sight…””
You might love it, you might be sick to death of it. Regardless, there’s no argument that this song epitomizes the wake-up-feelin’-good weather we’ve been having lately. Get some sun already!
