A man was arrested for trespassing and possession of a dangerous drug and drug paraphernalia at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday after he was seen walking his bike near Jett’s Wildcat, 501 N. Park Ave., reports stated.

A security guard told police there was copper wire around the handlebars of the man’s bike and that he was also seen carrying an additional bike tire.

The man seemed angry and was seen by the security guard walking quickly away from his security truck.

Police contacted the man, who explained he had found the bike tire as well as the wire.

Police recognized the man from previous encounters and a police bulletin posted in July.

The man told police he knew he wasn’t supposed to be within the “”boundaries”” of campus.

Police arrested the man for trespassing and searched him.

Police found 25 syringes and two broken-off needles inside the man’s backpack. Some of the syringes had a clear liquid residue inside.

Inside the man’s wallet, police found a clear plastic baggie containing a translucent crystal substance, reports stated. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine.

The man told police he had the syringes because he sold them and said the crystal substance was “”smelling salt.””

Police also found three large key sets inside the backpack. The man told police he found the keys from rummaging in mobile home parks.

The man was booked into Pima County Jail.

A Parking and Transportation Services employee found graffiti on 8:35 a.m. Monday in the Main Gate Parking Garage, 815 E. Second St., reports stated.

Two illegible words were spray-painted in red and blue on the exterior wall on the third level of the garage.

Each word was approximately 3 feet long.

Campus maintenance was called to remove the graffiti.

A bronze feather was stolen from a statue sometime between Aug. 31 and Tuesday on the north side of the Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

An employee told police the statue was titled “”Another Martyr No. 44, 1994″” and was the property of the UA.

The statue had last been seen intact during the evening of Aug. 31, and the feather was noticed missing at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.

A student stole a $94.95 genetics textbook from the UofA Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, reports stated.

When police arrived, security was escorting the student back into the store.

Security told police the student had put the textbook inside the blue laundry bag he was carrying and tried to leave the store.

The student was taken to a back room, where police asked to look inside the bag.

The student said “”sure”” and handed police the bag that contained the textbook.

The student told police he had taken the book for his class at Pima Community College.

The student was cited for shoplifting and released and told never to return to the bookstore.

A student lost his $320 cell phone sometime Aug. 26 or Saturday near La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., reports stated.

The student told police the cell phone had significant scratches on it.

The student said he had last seen the phone in his room at 11 p.m. on Friday and noticed it was missing at noon the next day.

Police arrested a student for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 2:07 a.m. Monday after he was seen smoking near East Speedway Boulevard and North Park Avenue, reports stated.

Police were driving on East Speedway Boulevard when they saw students walking west on the sidewalk toward North Park Avenue.

One of the students put an object to his face and lit it with a lighter, reports stated.

Police turned around and approached the students, reports stated.

As police pulled alongside the students, the same student put the object to his mouth and lit it again.

Police asked the students if they could talk to them, and the student slowly eased the item into his pocket.

Police told both students to pull their hands from their pockets and the student brought out a pipe.

The student told police he was using the pipe to smoke tobacco but police could smell burnt marijuana and saw marijuana still in the bowl of the pipe.

As police spoke with the student, they could smell alcohol on his breath.

The student told police all he wanted to do was get back to his room.

Police asked for the student’s ID and the student gave him a license that said he was born on May 3, 1985.

Police asked the student his date of birth and the student said “”May 3 of 1988″” and then tried to correct himself by saying he was born in 1985.

The student was cited and released on the scene.
