Four current Arizona softball members made an initial list of 27 invitees to the 2009 USA Softball Team Selection Camp. Jenae Leles, K’Lee Arredondo, Brittany Lastrapes and Stacie Chambers will join the others in Chula Vista, Calif., June 8-12.
That foursome will be joined by former pitcher Jennie Finch and outfielder Caitlin Lowe. An additional list of invitees will be announced in the future.
At the camp, USA Softball will select a roster to compete at KFC’sWorld Cup of Softball, which will be held in Okalahoma City, Okla., July 16-20. On top of a rematch against world champion Japan, Team USA will also take on the Netherlands, Canada, Italy and Australia.
Japan defeated the Americans 3-1 in the finals of the 2008 Beijing Games to take the gold.
