Former UA golfer Ricky Barnes earned his 2009 PGA Tour card Sunday with a 25th-place finish on the Nationwide Tour money list, earning a total of $218,902 in 26 events.
The four-time All-American, who won the 2002 U.S. Amateur Championship while at Arizona, clinched his spot on the PGA Tour with a 37th-place tie at the Nationwide Tour Championship in McKinney, Texas on Sunday. He carded a 3-under-par 281.
Barnes made the cut in 19 of 27 events and posted a 70.35 scoring average in the 2008 season. He had nine top-20 finishes, including two top-10 spots. His best finish this year was a tie for third at the Xerox Classic on Aug. 17, when he carded an 8-under 272.
Another former Wildcat, Chris Nallen (2001-04), tied for 54th place in the Nationwide Tour Championship with a 4-over-par 288. He finished in 58th place on the money list with $114,021 in earnings on the season.
