Tucson’s annual All Souls Procession graced the streets of downtown Tucson and Fourth Avenue on Sunday. From elaborate face painting at Hotel Congress to the procession’s Grand Finale party at the Mercado San Agustín, downtown seemed to ceaselessly bustle with activity. Festivities aside, a few T-locs shared their favorite part of All Souls with the Daily Wildcat.

“I actually haven’t seen [the procession] yet. We’ve been getting our faces painted the whole time since we got here. So I haven’t seen it, but the idea of it and the concept of honoring your ancestors and the people who aren’t here anymore appeals to me.”

“Last year I walked in the parade and I liked seeing and I liked seeing all the floats and things, especially the ones that weren’t just about honoring ancestors — also the ones with different interpretations of kind of what death and moving on is.”

“The camaraderie, the community, the celebrating, the gathering of people who are no longer physically here with us but have transferred over into the spiritual realm. We just really feel that sort of crossover with the community. That’s what I like most.”
