A UA employee was taken to jail early on the morning of March 23 after he called police about an alarm going off at the Electric Shop, 602 N. Mountain Ave., reports stated.

When police arrived around 4:30 a.m., the employee was mopping. The employee said he was angry about the “”stupid”” alarm and said it had been going off for over an hour.

The employee asked police to turn off the alarm.

The employee did not have any UA identification on him.

Police ran a records check and discovered the employee had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in court.

The employee was arrested.

Police told the employee’s supervisor the employee was arrested for something not related to his duties at UA, reports stated.

Two students and three men were cited for underage drinking Friday night after police pulled over the car they were in at East Second Street and North Mountain Avenue, reports stated.

Police noticed the car around 11:30 p.m. The car was stopped at a green light with its emergency lights on.

Police pulled up behind the car and turned the siren on. The car then drove away and turned the corner.

Police followed the car and once again attempted to pull the driver over. The driver stopped but then continued to pull forward. Police told the driver to stop the car and turn off the engine. Police then approached the car and smelled alcohol.

The driver said he had not been drinking and showed no signs of being drunk.

The five passengers in the car all admitted to drinking and to being under 21.

Police found a driver’s license in one of the men’s wallets that was not his. The picture on the license looked like the man and the owner of the license was over 21.

The man said one of the students had given it to him and said he was just holding it.

The student and the man both denied using the license to buy alcohol.

Police put the driver’s license into property and released the students and the men, reports stated.

A student was cited for possession of drugs and paraphernalia and for lying to police Friday night after a resident assistant smelled marijuana coming from the student’s dorm in Kaibab-Huachuca Residence Hall, 922 E. Fourth St., reports stated.

When police arrived around 11:30 p.m., the RA took police to the student’s room.

Police smelled marijuana. It sounded like someone inside was whispering on the phone.

Police knocked for five minutes, but the student didn’t answer, so police left.

The RA later called police and said she had gone outside and been able to see the student inside his room.

Police went back to the student’s room and the student answered the door.

The student told police he did not have any marijuana and had not been smoking.

Police asked the student why he had red eyes and the student said he had gone outside earlier to smoke a joint.

The student said police could search the room. The student was asked if police could look in his backpack.

The student said he would rather not have police look in the backpack. Police asked the student what was in the backpack.

The student then pulled three juice bottles with a green leafy substance in them out of his backpack. The student then admitted to having rolling papers in his wallet. The student told police he did not sell marijuana.

The three juice bottles and rolling papers were placed into evidence, and the student was released, reports stated.

A mirror in the men’s bathroom on the fourth floor of Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., was broken sometime before early Saturday morning, reports stated.

Police responded to a fire alarm at the dorm around 4 a.m. and found the mirror broken.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.
