The 2010 All-Conference women’s gymnastics team was released late Wednesday, and four Gymcats were able to make the cut.
“”I think it’s a great thing for them, they have certainly earned this,”” said head coach Bill Ryden. “”All four of them have competed all-around all year, and they have gotten us most of our points all year. Due to our lack of depth and injury these girls really had to step up.””
The team had three (out of the six possible) gymnasts earn first team honors in the all-around selections. Freshmen Aubree Cristello and Molly Quirk joined sophomore Deanna Graham as the all-around selections.
Quirk had a fast start to her career as a member of the Gymcats, competing in every all-around meet as a freshman. She only fell once in 48 attempts.
Senior Sarah Tomczyk was awarded second team all-conference for her performances on vault and bars.
“”It’s great for our program to have four girls make it to all conference,”” Ryden said. “”Definitely bodes well for the future, obviously to get on the all Pac-10 team you have to hit under pressure.””
